About the Role:

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping patients regain their motor skills and independence.

Job Description:
  • Evaluate and treat patients using standard occupational therapy procedures.
  • Responsible for treating complex/specialty cases for assigned sites, evaluating patients' motor and neurological capabilities, and documenting findings.
  • Direct, plan, organize, and execute occupational therapy programs for patients, exercising professional judgment in selection of treatment media consistent with attending physicians' prescriptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement treatment plans consistent with therapy goals, providing group or individual therapy selecting from a variety of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Document patient treatments, initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with established departmental and service line policies and protocols.
  • Provide staff mentoring and develop/implement educational in-services for staff, attend interdisciplinary team conferences, and various meetings to consult with other team members regarding patient treatment & program development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Three years of clinical experience in order to acquire skills for independent patient treatment.
  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  • Initial certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Minimum of 60 points on the professional growth and development criteria.
