IT Systems Engineer

The H.W. Kaufman Group is on the lookout for a skilled IT Systems Engineer to enhance our IT Operations Team. This role is integral to the management of our corporate computing landscape, encompassing both on-premises and cloud environments. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and be on-call is essential. This position requires on-site presence three days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and standardize system configurations to optimize performance.
  • Oversee Microsoft Windows Server, VMware Clusters, and Data Storage systems.
  • Manage backup and recovery operations effectively.
  • Administer Azure virtual machines, storage solutions, and networking components.
  • Implement and uphold disaster recovery protocols.
  • Address incidents promptly, resolving all technical challenges impacting production.
  • Lead projects and ensure deliverables are met within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to resolve vulnerabilities swiftly.
  • Adhere to Change Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks and automation processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in an IT Operations role, managing servers and storage in a professional setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience with VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft technologies.
  • Strong understanding of core technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, and TCP/IP.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly PowerShell.
  • Experience with server application monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with backup systems for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete work efficiently.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional customer service capabilities, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Physical capability to lift 30-50 lbs without assistance.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required for office visits and project needs.
