Job Summary:

Clean and service assigned areas according to established standards of cleanliness to ensure a clean, comfortable, safe, and attractive environment for guests. Key responsibilities include cleaning and caring for floors, high dusting, edging, and scrubbing hotel desks. Adhere to all operating procedures, safety regulations, and sanitation practices involving bio-clean up, and company policy and procedures.

Essential Functions:

Regularly clean items at heights ranging from ground level to 25 feet using a ladder or high lift. Scrub, polish, disinfect, and wipe items, including trashcans, concrete, carpet, furniture, and fixtures. Operate heavy commercial/industrial equipment to clean floors, decks, carpets, sidewalks, and parking areas. Use chemicals, cleansers, and solvents with safety equipment provided by the company and read Material Safety Data Sheets written in English. Occasionally assist with lifting and moving heavy items, including furniture, boxes, and other heavy or bulky items. Maintain and handle equipment in a safe and responsible manner, reporting any malfunctions or damage to equipment immediately to the supervisor. Responsible for filling chemical bottles and preparing equipment as needed. Clean, store, and maintain equipment according to the manufacturer's instructions and training received from the department supervisor. Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials in accordance with OSHA training provided by the company.

Requirements:

Three to six months of related experience and/or training in public area cleaning or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be at least 21 years of age. Knowledge of carpet cleaning equipment, high-speed buffers, power wash equipment, and marble polishing. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal. Ability to read, write, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Required Work Cards: None.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work with cleaning products, chemicals, and solvents using safety equipment provided by the company. Must be able to tolerate a fast-paced environment with regular exposure to cigarette smoke and loud noise. Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Ability to communicate via radios and pagers. Walking, bending, and crouching (more than 75% of the time). Ability to work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail. Regularly exposed to different elements, including wind, rain, sunlight, etc. Moderately exposed to cigarette smoke. Noise level in the environment is usually moderate. Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Walk, stand, and/or crouch on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces. Need to distinguish between shades of color. Work may require the use of close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. It may also require depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus.
