Nursing Station Clerk 1, NS26 Coronary Care Unit

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Nursing Station Clerk 1, NS26 Coronary Care Unit - Part-Time (Nights). This role is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine clerical duties in inpatient clinical settings, including greeting visitors, answering telephones, performing data entry activities, maintaining daily and clinical logs, preparing and updating patient charts and files, and delivering supplies and records to an assigned unit.
Key Responsibilities- Patient registration: Verify patient demographic and financial information, generate paperwork, and review pertinent information with patients.
- Appointment scheduling: Obtain patient information, schedule appointments, and obtain previous medical records as needed.
- Answer telephones and take accurate messages: Communicate patient problems and needs to appropriate representatives.
- Patient checkout/discharge: Make referral and/or return appointments, obtain insurance authorization, and enter lab and radiology procedure requests into the computer system.
- Encounter ticket management: Ensure that encounter tickets are completed appropriately and charges are submitted in a timely manner.
- General Clerical Support: Pick up and deliver supplies, check par levels of supplies, order and receive clerical supplies and equipment, and stock supplies into the computerized stocking system and supply closets.
- Open Competitive: 1-year of full-time clerical, secretarial, or patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
- Promotion: 1-year of permanent service in a title allocated to Grade 5 or higher and satisfactory completion of a 6-month traineeship.
Variable Days; 11:30pm to 7:30am (Part-Time Nights)
SG-7, $14,848 - $18,345 Base Salary (Part-Time.40FTE of $37,121)
