Formwork Carpenter

GR Birdwell Construction is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, stripping, and/or repairing structures of steel, wood or plywood using carpenter's hand and power tools.

• Formwork Installation
  • Install footing forms, including wall footings, grade beams, and footing steps.
  • Install column footings and caps.
  • Install rebar templates, embeds, and anchor bolts.
  • Install water stop systems with proper alignment.
• Wall and Column Formwork
  • Build and install wall and column forms, including various types of wall form systems.
  • Brace, stabilize, and align wall forms.
  • Install, anchor, and embed miscellaneous metals in correct locations.
  • Frame ledges, openings, block-outs, and sleeves in correct locations.
  • Strip vertical formwork.
• Structural Deck Forms
  • Install various elements of the structural deck systems, including beam bottoms, beam sides, pans, and life-line systems.
  • Install and remove post shoring, reshoring systems, and scaffolding.
  • Frame ledges, construction joints, openings, block-outs, and sleeves in correct locations.
  • Set handrails.
  • Strip horizontal formwork.
  • Set grades for horizontal decking systems.
  • Rig loads and materials to be moved by hoisting equipment.
• Slab-on-Grade Forms
  • Set keyways.
  • Accurately set, position, and stabilize expansion joints.
  • Set high-tolerance edge forms.
  • Provide layout for control and construction joints.
  • Dismantle floor forms.
• Tilt-Up/Precast Forms
  • Set high-tolerance edge forms, chambers, and reveal strips.
  • Prepare forms for casting (i.e., filling joints and sanding).
• Building Layout
  • Establish grades and elevations.
  • Work with control lines and offsets.

• Must be willing to work in all kinds of weather and working conditions.
• Must be willing to assume the physical risks of working in an outdoor environment, including traffic, construction equipment, extreme heat and/or cold, and wildlife.
• Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug screen and background check.
