Job Summary:

The Opportunity:

RS&H is seeking a senior-level construction inspector to join our team. This position will work on an active construction site, monitoring the contractor's activities and inspecting materials to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, including making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of junior inspectors, review and interpret contract documents, and maintain detailed accurate records of the contractor's daily operations.
  • Conduct field testing of component materials and completed work, and coordinate, guide, and oversee the junior inspectors on the project.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in construction inspection, including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or a degree in civil engineering.
  • Supervised multiple inspectors and been directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to the construction operations assigned.
  • Appropriate sampling and testing certifications.
  • Valid driver's license, insurable, and able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites.
  • Possess advanced organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • TxDOT Experience
  • Leadership Experience
  • Ability to use sound judgement and apply proper conflict resolution techniques
