Assistant General Counsel
Role Summary:
Prepares and examines contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, insurance, etc. Provides legal counsel to the organization on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits and to prevent lawsuits. Prepares corporate resolutions and forms. Prepares legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, etc. Develops and recommends company policies and guidelines on legal and compliance issues. Conducts and coordinates research into a variety of legal issues. Performs investigations and conducts compliance training. Provides legal counsel and advice to internal clients.
Additional Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents, as necessary
Draft, review, and administer complex vendor, client, and employment contracts
Represent the company and/or its officials in various legal proceedings
Other duties as assigned

Admission to State Bar with a license to practice in-house.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and legal procedures
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
Required Minimum Years Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of maritime law and litigation experience in an Admiralty law firm, corporate legal department, or shipping carrier
Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate
