Job Overview

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting with the administration of medications and overseeing the personal care services delivered by Care Assistants. This role includes reporting any care issues and unusual symptoms observed in residents to the oncoming staff and the Care Manager. The technician may also be required to respond to emergencies and take on supervisory responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer medications to designated residents and supervise those participating in self-medication programs on a monthly basis.
  2. Guide and oversee the personal care tasks performed by Care Assistants.
  3. Support Care Assistants in providing direct care to residents when necessary.
  4. Communicate with the Care Manager regarding any unusual symptoms, daily requirements, and progress of residents.
  5. Adhere to the care plan for each resident and evaluate the performance of Care Assistants in executing the care plan effectively.
  6. Manage all aspects of receiving, storing, and distributing controlled medications, ensuring proper handling and placement within the facility.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided to residents in the Case Notes, Medication Administration Records, and other required documentation.
  8. Assist in resolving issues related to staffing, supplies, and resident care during shifts.
  9. Ensure that care standards are upheld in all duties performed, respecting the rights and preferences of residents in their care and treatment.
  10. Guarantee that residents are treated with dignity and compassion at all times.
  11. Provide first-aid services and complete necessary reports for any incidents involving residents, staff, or visitors.
  12. Participate in shift change reports, ensuring that the incoming care personnel are fully informed about the residents' needs and care.

Availability: Must be prepared to work every other weekend and on holidays as required.
