About the Job

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated part-time Licensed Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team in New Jersey. The APN will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals across the lifespan, including conducting assessments, diagnosing mental health disorders, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

This remote position is for an experienced APN who can support our offices located in Egg Harbor Township, Cherry Hill, and Camden, New Jersey areas. Work often involves working with at-risk youth with trauma.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care:
    • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
    • Diagnose and treat a variety of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
    • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy and potential side effects.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated care.
    • Provide psychoeducation to patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
    • Participate in team meetings and case discussions to develop and refine care strategies.
  • Patient Advocacy and Support:
    • Advocate for patient access to appropriate mental health resources.
    • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
    • Address social determinants of health that may impact patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education and Certification:
    • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatry, social work, psychology, counseling, or related field is required.
    • An Active Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in New Jersey is necessary.
    • Current New Jersey clinical licensure (LCSW, LSW, LPC, LAC, LAMFT, or LMFT) is required.
    • Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is mandatory.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2 years' experience in psychiatric/mental health care with children and families is required.
    • Experience working with diverse populations and age groups is beneficial.
    • Mastery of working with individuals with trauma is essential.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills are necessary.
    • Proficiency in psychopharmacology and medication management is required.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are crucial.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team is vital.
    • A commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice is expected.
