Position Overview: The Certified Healthcare Assistant plays a crucial role within the interdisciplinary healthcare team, delivering direct patient care and supporting the medical and nursing staff in various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather medical histories and document vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Assist medical personnel during examinations and procedures, including collecting laboratory specimens and performing basic lab tests.
  • Manage patient care support tasks such as taking electrocardiograms, changing dressings, and promoting patient education regarding their care plans.
  • Handle administrative duties, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and processing billing and insurance forms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Familiarity with sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Proficient typing skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • Certification by recognized medical assistant organizations is required.
  • Experience requirements vary by level, with no prior experience needed for Level I, and 1-3 years of clinical experience for Levels II and III.
