Software Engineer Job Description

Annapolis Micro Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled software engineer to join our Software Design Team. Our company specializes in FPGA technology, providing computing capabilities beyond general-purpose processors. As a member of our team, you will work on creating interfaces between conventional processor platforms and our FPGA-based accelerators, developing and supporting IP product development of high-speed protocols, and collaborating on various microprocessor platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop embedded software products, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Develop object-oriented software architectures, optimizing code for efficient execution.
  • Design and test APIs and user-level examples, ensuring seamless integration with our FPGA-based accelerators.
  • Develop device drivers for Linux kernel, ensuring compatibility and stability.
  • Design interfaces to support ASICs, including ADCs, DACs, SPI, I2C, USB, DP devices, RS232, and RS485.
  • Configure and deploy operating systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Design and test VxWorks BSPs and applications, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
  • Interpret hardware schematic diagrams, ensuring accurate implementation.
  • Manage software releases and version control, ensuring smooth collaboration and deployment.
  • Produce software documentation, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Facilitate new product development through requirements review, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Automate build, test, and deploy software products, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide second-tier customer support for software products, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, Bash, and compilers such as gcc, meson, and cmake.
  • Experience with Linux, VxWorks, Petalinux, and Windows platforms.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented principles and design, as well as markup languages such as XML, YAML, and JSON.
  • Experience with real-time embedded environments (RTOS) and strong communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of supported operating systems and hardware architectures.
  • Expertise in writing drivers for supported operating systems, including Linux (ARM, PPC, and x86 architectures).
  • Debugging of embedded hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Desired Technical Background:
  • Experience with ASICs, including AMD/Xilinx Zynq MPSoC, RFSoC, and Versal ASoC, as well as Intel Agilex SoC Series.
  • Knowledge of additional tools, such as AMD/Xilinx XSDK and VITISTM Software, TensorFlow with VersalTM AI Engine, and network APIs such as REST and gRPC.
  • Expertise in writing drivers for supported operating systems, including Windows.
  • Experience with writing bootloaders, including FSBL, UBOOT, UEFI BIOS, and Slimbootloader.
  • Knowledge of IPMC and Chassis Manager (ChMC) development, including VITA 46.11 compliance and SOSA alignment.
  • Experience with Ethernet protocols (Layer 2 and 3), including Marvell, Mellanox, SwitchDev, OpenFlow, and RDMA over Ethernet (RoCE and NFS over RDMA).
