Job Summary

This position provides instructional and non-instructional services to students as outlined by assigned certified classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct and/or standby assistance for feeding, toileting, health care, and related medical services for students as legally allowable.
  2. Provide instruction at all locations to students under the meaningful direction and supervision of certified teacher and/or other certified support staff.
  3. Gather and tabulate instructional data.
  4. Implement and/or monitor behavior treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher.
  5. Implement/provide community-based instruction as provided by teacher lesson plans.
  6. Provide non-instructional services to students such as, but not limited to; student mobility, general health and safety, loading/unloading buses, monitoring lunchroom and other unstructured time.
  7. Keep all students, parents and staff information confidential.
  8. Have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members and community members who visit facilities or programs.
  9. Be responsible for securing wheelchairs on buses, and any other duties that are necessary to provide a safe environment for students while traveling on a bus during the school day.
  10. Ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
  11. Meet and greet visitors in a positive, helpful manner.
  12. Be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
Requirements
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Basic computer skills.
  3. Experience working with students, students with disabilities or as a trainer is preferred.
  4. Be willing to perform personal care for students as needed.
  5. Be able to work effectively with Administration, co-workers, students and parents.
  6. Have good oral/written communication, comprehension, and math skills.
  7. Be able to follow directions from multiple staff.
  8. Have a good attendance history.
  9. Have a valid driver's license with less than three points to be able to drive District vehicles.
  10. Pass a drug screen test.
