Job Summary

The Crew Lead Solar Maintenance Technician will be part of Tesla's Field Energy Operations team, responsible for leading the maintenance of energy products safely and on time. As a leader at Tesla, the Crew Lead will continuously model to others Tesla standards and responsibilities, including policy compliance, quality standards, and efficiency goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Considered a subject matter expert in energy system installation and maintenance, capable of training and mentoring others.
  • Service and commission energy systems on roofs, including array layout and mounting hardware based on site conditions and customers' needs and expectations.
  • Proactively resolve equipment and system issues, troubleshoot and overcome obstacles onsite, and apply advanced knowledge to improve processes.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure all materials and equipment necessary for servicing are available onsite and communicate job status to customers and leadership.
  • Supervise the jobsite, proactively guide and train team members to ensure compliance, and attend weekly team meetings and mandatory training sessions.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers and complete work both with a team and as a lone worker.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of PV equipment, installation, and service, with additional experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment, with the ability to bend conduit unassisted.
  • Ability to read building plans and equipment manuals and maintain Quality Standards.
  • Ability to safely handle power tools and materials, including ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • Excellent customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills, with computer skills preferred.
  • Excellent attendance is essential for the team to achieve success, and a valid driver's license is required.
  • Travel is mandatory and will vary dependent on business needs, with employees required to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time, several times a year, to various locations within the US.
