Job Title: Physical Education Youth Development Professional

Description:

The Boys and Girls Club of Burbank Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physical Education Youth Development Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing physical education programs for middle school students, promoting healthy lifestyles, good character, and citizenship.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement social recreation, fitness, and sports programs and activities that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
  • Conduct organized and structured group activities for middle school students, focusing on developing their physical skills and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Maintain and upkeep athletic facilities and report any safety hazards to operations.
  • Conduct National Boys & Girls Club programming, including Triple Play and All Stars.
  • Provide active supervision in assigned program areas and ensure the health and safety of members.
  • Build positive relationships with members, staff, and school faculty, and collaborate with the Sports and Recreation Director as needed.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of social, physical recreational, fitness, and athletic programming.
  • Minimum of one year of youth development experience in a school, childcare, or after-school program setting.
  • Experience in coaching or facilitating sports with students, preferably in a school or gym setting.
  • Boys & Girls Club programs experience highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully supervising and running various social recreation, fitness, and athletic activities for youth 5-14.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and groups.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move/traverse, remain in stationary positions, talk and hear or communicate information and ideas so others will understand and address surroundings for safety concerns; handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to ascend/descend or balance; position self to access lower/higher level items and may be infrequently required to traverse quickly. The employee must be physically able to keep children safe in an emergency.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.

All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley locations are required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
