- Deliver professional nursing care to patients while adhering to national and organizational standards for specialty regulations. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient and family needs.
- Uphold the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care in accordance with established standards and practices. Conduct health assessments by interviewing patients about their current status and medical history. Collect and document nursing assessments and interventions. Review and communicate the results of health assessments, physical examinations, relevant laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial evaluations to the healthcare provider. Assess patient and family needs and provide educational resources and support. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the supervision of a physician. Administer medications and blood products accurately, ensuring correct dosage, route, timing, and technique. Obtain necessary pre-authorizations and consent forms prior to therapy administration. Facilitate dose adjustments by evaluating patient conditions, reviewing lab results, consulting treatment protocols, and discussing dosage modifications with the physician. Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and manage central line catheter devices.
- Maintain precise documentation of patient care and treatments provided. Understand reimbursement procedures and charge capture processes.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and materials potentially infected with bloodborne pathogens.
- Adhere to all disinfection protocols.
- Ensure equipment is maintained according to quality control standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Assist and collaborate with clinical research initiatives. Serve as a resource for LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants. Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as required.
- 0-3 years of nursing experience, with a preference for at least one year in oncology.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program, with a BSN preferred. Must possess a valid RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Must fulfill continuing education requirements.
