Aerial Telecommunications Specialist

The role involves the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead fiber telecommunications infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of quality and safety in all tasks. Our construction office is based out of a central location, serving customers and working on projects throughout Northern and Central Ohio, with expansion plans into Michigan and Pennsylvania.

• Install and repair aerial telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  
• Safely operate equipment and perform construction tasks, including digging holes, placing cables, and installing conduit systems.
  
• Ability to climb ladders, work in a bucket truck, and work aloft on poles up to 40 feet.
  
• Perform aerial tasks, including new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and connecting/disconnecting cables.
  
• Attach/detach various hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or structures, ensuring secure and reliable connections.
  
• Read, understand, and interpret field prints to determine work requirements and potential issues.
  
• Ensure all installation work meets quality standards and complies with OSHA safety regulations.
  
• Restore project areas to required specifications, minimizing disruptions to customers and the environment.
  
• Report project progress to the Foreman and manage materials and equipment to avoid work delays.
  
• Work professionally in, on, and around customer premises, maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
  
• Maintain responsibility for all vehicles and equipment under your care, ensuring they are properly maintained and secure.
  
• Be available for local call-outs on weekends and evenings, as needed.
  
• Set up and maintain safe work environments, including using signage, cones, safety barriers, and flagging traffic when necessary.
  
• Understand and adhere to separation and clearance procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  

• Experience in telephone outside plant construction or related fields, including the placement of telecommunications cables and fiber.
  
• Ability to safely climb poles with ladders and work from aerial lifts.
  
• Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  
• Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and protocols.
  
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
  
• A valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  
• Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction, including pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, over-lash, and strand construction.
  
• Must be able to lift/carry 80 pounds regularly, with or without assistance.
  
• The job involves sitting, bending, handling, or feeling with hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms to high and low spaces, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping.
  

Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• The work environment may have moderate to loud noise levels.
  
• The role involves outdoor work, exposing employees to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, and dust, as well as adverse driving conditions like wet, icy roads, and heavy traffic.
  

This position includes 80% traveling. Omni Fiber LLC offers free hotel stays and per diem for food costs while traveling.
