Job Title: Medical AssistantJob Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at the Center for Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare patients for examination, taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  2. Assist physicians with examinations and treatments, handing them instruments or materials as needed.
  3. Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records.
  4. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.
  5. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  6. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
  7. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  8. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones and completing insurance forms.
  9. Responsible for charting all medical conversations in the patient chart and following up with the patient as indicated.
  10. Responsible for all prior authorizations for advanced imaging.
  11. Assist in the training of new team members on procedures and processes.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a medical setting.
  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions

The job requires working in a clinical setting, handling the sight of blood and open wounds, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
