The position of Lead Engineer - Electrical - Order Engineering is integral to the Waukesha Power Systems and Order Customization team.

Key Responsibilities
This role encompasses various tasks including the selection of components for genset controls and generator protection systems, system architecture, development, validation, manufacturing support, and field assistance.

Additional duties involve managing engine electrical accessories, genset electrical components, electrical wiring harnesses, and communication systems.

Work Structure
This position offers a hybrid work model, combining onsite collaboration with remote work flexibility.


Essential Duties
In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Design innovative products and assemblies, addressing design and reliability challenges, particularly in wire harnessing and control panels associated with INNIO-Waukesha engines and gensets.
  • Source prototype components for design validation, product launch, and troubleshooting of production and field service issues.
  • Establish technical specifications and quality benchmarks while collaborating with technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and calculations pertinent to assigned projects.
  • Engage in project teams for technical design evaluations.
  • Ensure completion of all necessary business system transactions related to Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Provide technical assistance to various functional areas and service technicians as needed.
  • Lead cross-functional teams when required.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of Waukesha quality documentation.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an electrical engineering capacity.

Preferred Attributes
Ideal candidates will have:

  • Advanced education in electrical or mechanical engineering or computer sciences (Master's or PhD) with a focus on control systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) for circuit schematic design.
  • Experience in wiring or harness design.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply electrical engineering expertise to analyze technical requirements and design complex components and assemblies using Pro/E or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with Creo or other software for modeling and routing wire harnesses in industrial applications.
  • Experience with control systems for engines, vehicles, aircraft, or other industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of control systems (panels, switchgear, controllers) for engine-generator sets.
  • Experience with embedded control hardware.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as RS-485, CANbus, and Modbus.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineering and cross-departmental teams.
  • Proficiency in written, verbal, and presentation communication.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a strong desire to learn.
