Job Summary

The Peer Support Specialist PRN is responsible for providing leadership to the peer support program and coordinating health promotion initiatives in alignment with LCMC Health's strategy. This role involves providing individual and group support to physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff experiencing distress at work following adverse patient/workplace events and other stress-related to the workplace or patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Oversees volunteer peer allies, including attending physicians, resident physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. Recruits additional peer allies to match program expansion.
  • Education: Serves as content expert, providing education to managers and senior leaders about appropriate and evidence-based responses to clinicians and employees with secondary trauma specifically, and in regard to workplace trauma more generally.
  • Coordination: Manages cases escalated by peer allies for referral, providing individualized warm handoffs to mental health providers in the community.
  • Collaboration: Consults with partnering organizations who are establishing or revitalizing peer support programs.
Requirements
  • 3 years Experience in the health and wellness industry to include experience in the delivery and coordination of corporate-based health promotion programs and project/vendor management or other relevant experience.
  • Experience in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral health, or related health field preferred. Experience working in an acute hospital setting preferred.
  • Preferred: LCSW or LPC
  • Experience in Trauma-Informed Care
