Position SummaryThe ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in refinery operations, particularly with medium to large-scale projects, and will be responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers and designers. The role demands proficiency in estimating manhours for project completion, prioritizing tasks according to schedule demands, and effectively communicating with project management. The engineer will also be tasked with ensuring the quality and completeness of all work produced.
Key Responsibilities:- Offer technical guidance to engineers and designers in executing electrical project scopes.
- Collaborate with plant management and discipline managers to align electrical work with client standards and procedures.
- Conduct both routine and complex engineering tasks, utilizing the latest technology and standards.
- Prepare and review essential documentation including load lists, power system studies, and equipment specifications.
- Work independently on specialized assignments or as part of a collaborative team.
- Implement and enhance company and client standards while seeking process improvements.
- Maintain high-quality design standards through established quality procedures.
- Ensure compliance with codes and practices, meeting contract specifications and project timelines.
- Provide mentorship to junior staff members.
- Experience in creating electrical drawings and a solid understanding of protective devices.
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and other relevant industry standards.
- Knowledge of arc flash requirements and calculations.
- Ability to perform critical engineering calculations, including load flow and short circuit analysis.
- Experience specifying various electrical equipment types.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively understand and meet client needs.
- Proficient in electrical modeling software and power system studies.
- Experience in managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Understanding of electrical construction techniques and plant startup requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant industry experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado is preferred.
