Role Summary: The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the Operating Room, ensuring optimal patient care through the application of aseptic techniques. This position emphasizes the importance of service excellence, demonstrating care, respect, and cooperation towards surgical patients. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Surgical Technologist contributes to a comprehensive surgical care plan for assigned patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic case preparation by selecting and organizing equipment and supplies using preference cards.
- Identify and manage surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper reprocessing methods are followed.
- Prepare for the scrub role and assist in the setup of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Carry out essential postoperative responsibilities, including preparing patients for recovery and managing surgical specimens.
- Maintain a clean and organized Operating Room by initiating cleaning protocols and ensuring the proper disposal of sharps and waste.
- Conduct and document surgical counts accurately.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma with relevant training through work experience or education. Preferred: Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.
Experience: Less than one year of relevant experience is required; 1-2 years is preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: CPR certification is required. Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
