Job Title: Project Cost Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Cost Engineer to join our team at Primoris Industrial & Civil. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely estimation of project costs, as well as providing cost management and control expertise to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Project Controls Manager in developing and implementing project cost and earned value management best practices.
  • Ensure that project cost systems are functioning effectively to provide accurate and timely data to the project team.
  • Track, analyze, and report on cost and schedule information to inform project decisions.
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve issues related to cost, schedule, and changes.
  • Provide cost information to support the project's Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimate.
  • Develop and implement effective cost management processes to ensure project control plans are executed successfully.
  • Apply and follow effective change management processes to ensure capital discipline.
  • Lead the forecasting and reporting of cost and schedule performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development of common methods and standard reporting formats for reports.
  • Conduct post-project audits to collect actual data versus estimated data for the purpose of making adjustments to estimating assumptions and processes.
  • Ensure that relevant cost management procedures and reporting requirements are incorporated into contractor scope of services where appropriate.
  • Report project cost to management and analyze cost and schedule variances, recommending corrective actions.
  • Apply cost engineering principles and methods, including budgeting and forecasting, change management systems and procedures, work breakdown structures, earned value systems, and contingency allocation.
  • Ensure that all cost-related items are properly closed out at project conclusion.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of functional experience in cost control, scheduling, estimating, and construction project controls in the construction industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Primavera P6 experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of risk management and analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with project teams.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with SAP and Microsoft Excel.
