Aerothermal Engineer

- Job Summary
- Perform aerodynamic and aero-thermal analysis to support the development of high-speed and hypersonic weapon systems. Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis tools on high-performance computing (HPC) platforms to evaluate trajectory-based aerodynamic heating and performance.
- Key Responsibilities
- Employ analysis tools to analyze high-speed or hypersonic flow environments and systems.
- Program in C++, Fortran, MATLAB, or other scientific programming software.
- Develop written reports, briefings, and other documentation.
- Work Environment
- Office environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
- Required Qualifications
- Minimum BS Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with MS degree desired.
- 0 to 5 years experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Desired Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with programming in C++, Fortran, MATLAB, Python, etc.
- Experience with CFD software packages: NASA Fun3D and Fun3D-HE CFD Solvers, US3D CFD Solver, DPLR3D CFD Solver, NASA Overflow and associated meshing tools, Pointwise mesher, Tecplot, ParaView.
- Experience with FEA packages: Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, Sierra/SM.
