Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Co-Occurring Counselor to join our team at United Community Services Healthcare. As a Co-Occurring Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive treatment services to patients struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess clients referred for substance abuse and mental health evaluations and make appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to patients, utilizing evidence-based practices and a personalized approach to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress, treatment plans, and aftercare services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient-centered services.
  • Participate in quality assurance meetings and contribute to the development of best practices in substance abuse and mental health treatment.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, mental health, or a related field.
  • Licensed in Iowa as an independent clinician (LMFT, LMSW, or LISW) or working towards independent licensure within one year of hire.
  • Certified or working towards CADC certification within one year of hire.
  • Experience in both substance abuse and mental health diagnosis and treatment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
  • Current Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification with the Iowa Board of Certification.
  • Experience with group facilitation, understanding of substance use disorders, and comprehension of counseling theories.
