Position Overview:
The CT Technologist II is responsible for operating and maintaining imaging equipment to capture radiographic images of various body parts, aiding radiologists in identifying foreign objects and diagnosing medical conditions and injuries.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Positioning patients appropriately under the imaging apparatus and adjusting controls as necessary.
  • Conducting x-ray examinations in sterile surgical environments when required.
  • Processing exposed films using automatic developers or manual solutions.
  • Providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages, ensuring a high standard of care.
  • Performing radiographic procedures and related techniques to generate diagnostic imaging data for licensed practitioners.

The CT Technologist II exercises professional judgment in service delivery while adhering to medical ethics. This role necessitates maintaining a safe examination environment and requires licensure from the State of Arkansas, with ARRT certification preferred.


Core Responsibilities:
  • Initiate work processes effectively.
  • Document relevant information regarding Radiation Safety and clinical details on requisitions.
  • Accurately complete procedure information in the medical system for all patients.
  • Deliver care that is suitable for the patient's condition and age, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Confirm patient clinical history aligns with the procedure being performed.
  • Select and operate radiographic equipment and accessories proficiently.
  • Position patients to optimally demonstrate the anatomical area of interest.
  • Determine appropriate radiographic techniques for examinations.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Perform venipuncture and inject contrast materials under supervision, if trained.
  • Verify informed consent for any invasive procedures.
  • Conduct non-interpretative fluoroscopic procedures in accordance with quality control standards.
  • Adhere to HIPAA Privacy and Security policies.
  • Report any issues related to privacy, compliance, and ethical conduct.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist in the safe transportation of patients.
  • Support physicians during examinations and related tasks.
  • Complete work assignments promptly.
  • Provide patient education and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with Radiologists regarding procedures and patient care.
  • Collaborate with Imaging Services Nurses on infection control and patient education policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the examination area.
  • Utilize proper biomedical disposal techniques for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure adequate supply levels and maintain room stock.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with supervisors.
  • Review daily updates and share workload with colleagues.
  • Maintain overall quality in work performance.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of an accredited program in Radiological Science and Technology is required.

Licenses and Certifications:
ARRT (R) certification and CT registry preferred.
Must hold a valid Arkansas Radiologic Technologist License.
BLS certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Registry-eligible applicants must complete the registry process within one year. Preference is given to those meeting the continuing education requirements set by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English is essential.
