Security Officer II

At Children's Hospital & Medical Center, we're committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our patients, families, and staff. As a Security Officer II, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our community.

About the Role

This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within the hospital and other assigned CHS entities. You'll work under the general observation and assistance of a Security Officer II, and be accountable for the day-to-day functions of Security and Safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform internal and external patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Staff stationary security posts and respond to calls for service in a timely manner.
  • Effectively control combative or unruly individuals using de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain situational awareness and address safety and security concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provide timely information to the Security Control Center Operators and complete incident reports.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous hospital or customer service experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and perform mathematical calculations to complete investigations and reports.
Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required.
  • Successful completion of Response to Resistance training or equivalent Human Factor Research Group (PPCT) defensive tactics training within 60 days required.
  • Completion of IAHSS Basic Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) course within 180 days required.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record/driving record required.
