Core Responsibilities
The Meat Cutter is responsible for delivering an exceptional Meat/Seafood Department experience by engaging with customers and providing outstanding service.

Essential Duties:
The following are critical responsibilities of this role. Associates must complete all assigned tasks necessary for the effective operation of our business while maintaining the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Arriving on time for scheduled shifts and demonstrating effective communication and physical capabilities to perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
- Driving sales through proactive engagement with customers, offering product suggestions, and discussing current promotions and services.
- Providing customer service by welcoming guests and informing them about special features, product details, and services available in the Meat/Seafood Department.
- Understanding and executing proper techniques for cutting, trimming, and boning various meat and seafood products.
- Operating essential equipment safely and correctly, including slicers, grinders, and other meat processing tools.
- Assisting in training new Apprentice Meat Cutters.
- Completing tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
- Accurately fulfilling customer special order requests.
- Mentoring new associates and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Ensuring all work complies with local, state, federal, and company regulations regarding safety, food handling, and sanitation.
- Actively participating in the Meat/Seafood Department's safety initiatives.
Supervisory Role:
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities; however, every associate has the opportunity to demonstrate leadership.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Must communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Mathematical Skills: Competence in performing calculations involving units of currency and weight measurements.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and manage problems in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications: Must meet state requirements for operating meat processing equipment.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Food Handlers Permit and a valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card.
Physical Demands & Safety Standards: Associates are expected to adhere to safety protocols and practices at all times, including using personal protective equipment and understanding ergonomic safety.
Work Environment: The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and varying temperatures. Associates should be prepared for moderate noise levels.
