Position: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Work Schedule: 12x3 Nights
Location: Newport, Vermont, United States
Contract Length: 3 Years - Temp to Perm
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluating and tracking the health status of expectant mothers throughout the labor process.
- Supporting physicians and midwives during the childbirth process.
- Administering prescribed medications and performing essential medical tasks under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Guiding mothers through labor with techniques for breathing and relaxation.
- Delivering postpartum support to mothers and infants, including monitoring health indicators and assisting with breastfeeding.
- Engaging with patients and their families to explain medical procedures and provide emotional reassurance.
- Maintaining accurate medical documentation and patient records.
- Utilizing and overseeing medical devices such as fetal monitors.
- Recognizing and addressing any complications or emergencies promptly.
- Instructing parents on newborn care, including hygiene, feeding, and umbilical cord maintenance.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of current experience in a similar role.
- Preferred certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB).
- Experience with Cerner EMR is mandatory.
- Traveling nurses may be required to assist with non-complex overflow patients within their practice scope.
- Traveling candidates must possess their own vehicle; this is a strict requirement.
Required Certifications:
- AWHONN
- BLS
- NRP
- PEARS
