About the Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct hydrographic surveys, performing a variety of duties required to survey channels, harbors, rivers, and adjacent features.
  • Employee utilizes highly technical, state of the art computerized survey equipment situated on trailer-able survey boats, and ocean-going survey vessels up to 65 feet in length.
  • Investigate channel conditions and underwater channel obstructions and provide reports on conditions and impact to navigation.
  • Direct the use of equipment, vessels, and personnel to gather necessary information on channel conditions.
  • Analyze and provide technical interpretation of raw survey data and recommend next course of action.
  • Investigate abnormal and newly developed shoal areas to ascertain causes and effects.

Qualification Requirement

Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Education Education substitution is allowed at the GS-05 grade level only.

Qualifications for the GS-06/07/08/09 grade levels will be determined based on meeting the specialized experience requirements for each grade level as listed above.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

This position has promotion potential to the GS-09.

Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.

Promotion is never automatic.
