About the Role

Penn Forest Township is seeking a skilled and dedicated Code Enforcement/Zoning Officer to join our team. As a Code Enforcement/Zoning Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing zoning regulations and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards throughout the township. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of zoning laws and codes, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in code enforcement, law enforcement, or a related field, and will be able to effectively communicate with residents, business owners, and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce zoning regulations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Conduct field investigations and property inspections to identify potential code violations
- Issue non-traffic citations for zoning and health-related offenses
- Perform inspections and identify potential hazards and safety concerns
- Present reports and statistics to township officials and special committees
- Coordinate with other agencies and departments to address code enforcement issues
- Respond to public inquiries and provide information on code enforcement activities

Requirements:
- Equivalent to a high school diploma or GED certificate
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field, such as code enforcement, law enforcement, or building inspection
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to complete ICC-64 Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within 1 year of employment
- Ability to complete PA Certified Zoning Officer certification within 1 year of employment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in a variety of situations

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 per year
