UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Vocational Nurse to join our team in Galveston, Texas. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities.
Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.
- Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and use the nursing plan of care in daily assignments.
- Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the stated medical plan of care.
- Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, and recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
- Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care, and maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Safely and properly administer medications and treatments, and execute written physician's orders for assigned patients.
- Assemble equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, and perform or assist others with procedures or treatments.
- Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care, and document nursing care in all assigned patient records.
- Perform related duties as required, and adhere to internal controls established for the department.
- Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse program and licensure/permit as a vocational nurse in the state of Texas.
- No experience required, but 1-2 years of Ambulatory, Outpatient or Clinical setting experience is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not mandatory.
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
