Diagnostic Imaging Specialist Opportunity

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for operating Cat-Scan equipment, positioning patients to produce diagnostic radiographs, and performing related duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate CT equipment to make radiographs, scans of designated portions of the body
  • Adjust equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination
  • Instruct and explain procedures to patients
  • Select proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis
  • Perform reconstruction and special processing (CT Angio) of data
  • Evaluate completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique, and adequacy of examination
  • Closely observe patients, perform first aid as necessary, and confer with physicians when requested exams appear at odds with the patient's condition
  • Ensure that all exams are entered appropriately, make edits as required, and verify for the radiologist to read with all required documents
  • Record and maintain exam information in the CT log
  • Properly record radiation dose into Meditech and report outliers as required
  • Perform QC functions as required
  • Properly document all medications used in the EMAR
  • Receive verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with the state license
  • Demonstrate customer principles and behaviors appropriately
Requirements:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (R) required; (CT) required within 12 months of hire
  • State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist
  • Associate Degree in Radiological Technology required
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT concepts to include: head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, MSK, CTA
  • Knowledge of CT invasive procedures to include biopsy, drainages, etc, and basic knowledge about supplies used such as catheters and biopsy needles
  • Knowledge of contrast administration and contraindications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques
