The Industrial Lubricants Development Chemist will play a crucial role in the Laboratory Department, focusing on enhancing formulation knowledge while addressing client requirements. This position involves working in a laboratory setting and engaging with various technologies, particularly in the realms of industrial lubricants, sealants, and thread compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments, formulate, apply, assess, and troubleshoot a variety of lubricants, sealants, and thread compounds, while establishing specifications and requirements tailored to the industrial sector.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive documentation of laboratory activities and outcomes.
- Communicate technical data and materials effectively to colleagues both within and outside the organization.
- Collaborate with fellow chemists, technicians, field sales/service personnel, manufacturing teams, and clients.
- Contribute to a cooperative team atmosphere, assisting current and prospective clients with their lubrication requirements.
- Develop and oversee formulations and guidelines based on laboratory and production batch information.
- Possess a solid understanding of ASTM methodologies utilized for grease testing.
- Implement rework processes as necessary.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to ensure appropriate testing specifications and methodologies are in place.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of two years of experience in Grease Formulation.
- Prior experience in formulation and laboratory settings, closely interacting with clients to support their industrial lubrication, sealant, or thread compound needs.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial lubricants.
- Proficiency in designing industrial lubricants, sealants, and thread compounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various functions, both internally and externally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
