The Apprentice Teacher position at Uncommon Schools offers a unique chance for individuals with limited or no teaching experience to explore the field of education and gain hands-on practice and training to become a successful full-time classroom teacher.
Key Responsibilities- Observe and learn from Master Teachers and co-teach with teacher-leaders
- Provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction
- Assist with teaching Enrichment classes, organizing student events, and developing mentoring relationships with students
- Participate in full-year professional development and regular meetings with an instructional coach to gain experience and support necessary to develop teaching skills
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom
- Evidence of self-motivation, willingness to be a team player, and strong sense of personal responsibility
