Janitorial Personnel

Kemper Development Company, a family-owned and fourth-generation company, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Janitorial Personnel. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of facilities, responding to direction from supervisors, management, and executive staff.

The primary function of this role is to perform heavy cleaning duties, including hard and carpeted floors, walls, glass, removing rubbish, operating equipment of all sizes, and setting up facilities for meetings and events. The ideal candidate will be dependable, respectful, productive, and a good team player.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interact with the public consistently and daily
• Provide high-level customer service
• Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, and countertops
• Replace supplies in the bathrooms (toilet paper, paper towels, soap) and wipe down surfaces
• Empty all trash cans, replace liners, and clean receptacles as necessary
• Place full trash bags in 55-gallon buckets and dispose of them in the dumpster chute
• Cleaning windowsills and windows
• Maintain the janitor closet in a clean, safe, and operable condition
• Properly label, dilute, and use all chemicals
• Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment
• Wipe down tables in the area, rearrange chairs, and mop up any spills that may occur
• Assist with setting up facilities for meetings and events as necessary
• Make one trip through assigned sections every 30 minutes, checking the restrooms
• Be properly equipped with a dustpan, broom, putty knife, cleaning rags, and spray bottle at all times
• Occasionally work exterior personnel functions as needed

Requirements:

• Ability to communicate using a 2-way radio
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Must have the ability to walk for periods of 6.5 hours or more
• Be able to work odd hours, such as nights, weekends, and holidays
• Carry backpack-style equipment for more than 3 hours at a time
• Tolerate strong odors and chemical smells
• Able to read and interpret warnings and hazards on cleaning equipment and chemicals used
• Deal with people in a manner showing sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
• Able to work with heights
• Perform repeated bending, reaching, and lifting
• Must be able to tolerate unpleasant odors and clean up biological accidents
• Perform work with a variety of different chemicals and equipment used in the cleaning process
• Must be able to work around large crowds and increase tempo to accommodate increased customer demand during holidays and special events
• The ability to lift and carry 35 pounds and up
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Valid WA state driver's license may be required if the job requires driving company vehicles

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma or GED
• Experience in janitorial fields related to retail and/or office cleaning is preferred
• Experience using heavy equipment related to hard floor cleaning and carpet care is preferred
• Ability to communicate in English is required

Pay:

Janitorial Personnel - Interiors

• Day/Swing shift: $20.50/hour
• Overnight shift: $21.50/hour

Janitorial Personnel Exteriors - Must have a valid driver's license-

• Day/Swing shift: $21.50/hour
• Overnight shift: $22.50/hour

Schedule:

• Day Shift (6am-2:45pm)
• Swing Shift (2:30pm-11:15pm)
• Overnight (10:00pm-6:30am)

Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. We adhere to Federal Law. Cannabis is included in the drug screen for exterior applicants.
