Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Court Services Interviewer. As a key member of our Pretrial Services team, you will play a critical role in assessing defendants detained in the Monroe County jail and making recommendations to the court.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough interviews with defendants to assess risk of flight, treatment readiness, and need
  • Develop rapport with defendants to maximize the accuracy of the risk assessment
  • Make personal contact with defendants prior to release to explain conditions of release and program expectations
  • Utilize information gathered to develop an appropriate recommendation for release based on the risk assessment instrument
  • Facilitate the release of defendants through written or oral recommendations to the court
  • Make frequent court appearances and verbally communicate information to the court regarding defendants
  • Listen to and record information given in an open court setting regarding defendants and case-related information
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on client and case-related information
  • Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the administration of Pretrial Services
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as social sciences, psychology, or criminal justice
  • OR Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's Degree in a related field, with two years of paid, full-time experience in human services
  • OR Any combination of training and experience deemed equivalent by the Executive Director
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interactions with defendants, attorneys, and court personnel. The employee must be able to walk to and from the Monroe County downtown jail and the Hall of Justice, and be able to stand for extended periods of time while interviewing defendants. The position also requires the ability to communicate verbally and hear responses in noisy environments.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $13.70 per hour, plus benefits. The workweek is 37.5 hours per week, with a rotational schedule that includes Saturdays.
