Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at Compass Group, North America. As a Painter, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining interior and exterior building wall finishes and surfaces with paint, coatings, wall coverings, plaster, and other repair materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select and use the appropriate tools and equipment for the job, including paints, brushes, rollers, spray guns, drop cloths, rags, ladders, scaffolds, tape, and cleaning materials.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, minor repair, and patching metals, wood, masonry, and polishing finished surfaces and glazing as necessary.
  • Install, remove, and replace cove bases, ceiling tiles, wall-mounted items, and similar accessory items needed to achieve a complete and finished appearance.
  • Perform caulking, sanding, taping, application of special finishes, and color matching, waxing, and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary.
  • Make minor repairs to spray and roller equipment and simulate wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Recommend substitute materials or colors to improve and expedite work.
  • Requisition and receive materials and equipment and maintain simple records and time reports.
  • Cut stencils and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations.
  • Paint signs on surfaces such as cloth, bulletin boards, walls, doors, equipment, etc.
  • Install wall coverings and similarly applied materials.
  • Freehand highlighting, shading, and counter-shading and apply stipple and glaze finishes.
  • Remove, repair, and install ceramic tile floors, walls, and ceilings.
  • Tape and spackle drywall in preparation for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler.
Requirements
  • 1 year of trade school or 2 years of experience as a Painter in a similar-sized institution.
  • Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.
  • Some exposure to extreme degrees of heat, noise, dust, and dirt areas requiring infection control.
