Job Summary:

We're seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to join our Advanced Technologies Services Group in San Jose. As a key member of our multi-discipline design team, you'll be responsible for designing and managing HVAC, plumbing, and process gas and fluid projects in existing buildings. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering clean room HVAC systems, equipment retrofits, HVAC controls integration/coordination, and process piping systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop building mechanical systems, process piping, and industrial facility projects.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, reports, and construction document packages using office and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations using software tools.
  • Develop and modify Process Flow and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (PFD and P&ID).
  • Conduct field surveys to document existing conditions.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for product selections and quotations.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and as-builts.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress, conduct punch list walks, and perform construction administration site surveys.
  • Work effectively independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Receive project assignments from Project Managers, accept direction, and follow job site rules and procedures.
  • May assign duties and schedules, answer questions, and provide daily guidance to other team members.
  • Verify technical work for accuracy.
  • Recognize problems quickly and seek advice from Team Leader or Senior Engineer.
  • Enhance technical competency by seeking and executing work in new and evolving market sectors.
  • Have a solid understanding of mechanical systems, ductwork, chiller plants, air handlers, and CRAC/CRAH.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience and detailed understanding of ACAD, CAD standards, and Revit are a plus.
  • 5-10 years of design/engineering experience in HVAC, chilled water, process/compressed gasses, and a general understanding of basic industrial processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • California P.E. license in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
