About the Role

Pannell Kerr Forster of Texas, PC is seeking a highly skilled Audit Senior Associate to join our team. As a key member of our audit engagement teams, you will be responsible for handling complex assignments, developing and reviewing the work of less experienced staff, and taking a lead role in managing all tasks related to audit client work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Audit Engagements: Participate and lead all phases of an audit, including planning, control analysis and testing, substantive procedures, and identifying and assisting clients with issues and reporting.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and review financial statements, workpapers, audit programs, and other related documents.
  • Staff Development: Review the work of less experienced staff, share knowledge, and develop their technical skills.
  • Engagement Management: Assist management in planning and managing engagement activity, and follow through to achieve results.
  • Technical Expertise: Recognize complex technical issues, evaluate facts efficiently, and use strategic decision-making skills to assist management in solving problems.
  • Quality Control: Appropriately manage risk and ensure quality control procedures are being executed.
  • Client Service: Ensure top-quality client service, communicate with clients on a consistent basis, and maintain a smooth working relationship.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve client/team issues in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Maintain active communication with the engagement team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Professional Development: Demonstrate knowledge of all technical aspects of the job, including related knowledge of necessary systems and procedures, and follow regulations and professional ethics of state bodies appropriate to discipline, including AICPA.
  • Goal Achievement: Work to achieve personal and departmental goals as determined by Practice Leader.
  • Timely Response: Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests.
  • Project Management: Work effectively within given budgetary parameters, assist associates in prioritizing and managing their workload, and approach projects with a sense of urgency and completion orientation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek new ideas and better ways of accomplishing job and company goals.
  • Travel and Work Environment: Understand that time may be spent in both the Firm's offices and/or the client's premises, and that client service activity may not always be predictable, and may be subject to immediate change or on-call requests with very short notice. Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client's needs, and may include domestic and/or international travel.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Provide staff with leadership, counseling, and career guidance, participate in mentoring, training, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities, and present internal and external training and seminars on technical issues.
Qualifications
  1. Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Professional Certification: CPA license preferred. At a minimum, candidates must be CPA eligible and working on the exam.
  3. Professional Experience: Public accounting or other professional services experience preferred.
  4. Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards, familiarity with audit procedures, and the ability to distinguish between material and immaterial items.
  5. Employee Benefit Plan Experience: Employee Benefit Plan experience a plus.
  6. CPE Credits: Must maintain required CPE credits annually.
  7. Technical Skills: Ability to effectively use Prosystem Fx Engagement and Microsoft Office, ability to organize work and projects, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines, and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.
  8. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to apply understanding to carry out and to give instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  9. Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
