Manufacturing Process Engineer

Quantum Fuel Systems is looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Manufacturing Process Engineer to enhance our engineering team. This role involves the design, development, and integration of production tools and testing apparatus for our products. The successful candidate will also be tasked with formulating production methodologies for new items, establishing standards, and creating visual instruction materials. Collaboration with the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams will be essential. Furthermore, the Manufacturing Process Engineer will lead training sessions for production staff, assess and quantify manufacturing operations, and review supplier capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and refine production tools
  • Establish production methodologies for new items
  • Create operational standards and visual guides
  • Conduct material assessments and root cause investigations
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality Assurance
  • Facilitate training sessions for production personnel
  • Evaluate and quantify manufacturing operations
  • Implement Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEAs)
  • Assess supplier capabilities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in a production assembly setting
  • Familiarity with rotational molding of plastics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Additional Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license and access to a dependable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the region
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with filament winding of pressure vessels
  • Background in automotive manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics, LabView, JD Edwards, and Microsoft Visio
Physical Requirements:

The role requires time spent on the production floor, engaging with production staff. Physical demands include prolonged standing, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and utilizing hands and fingers for computer tasks and documentation.
