Residential Advocate

Join our team at the Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County as a Residential Advocate, where you will play a vital role in providing support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

The Residential Advocate is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of shelter residents, providing crisis intervention, peer counseling, and advocacy services. This is a part-time weekend position with a rotation schedule, requiring flexibility and a commitment to supporting survivors.

• Provide orientation and intake services to shelter residents
• Offer crisis intervention, peer counseling, and advocacy services
• Ensure the shelter operates in a safe and welcoming environment
• Communicate effectively with the RCC team to ensure seamless support for clients
• Assist with transportation arrangements and hotline calls
• Inform clients about domestic violence services and make referrals as needed
• Facilitate house meetings and maintain accurate records

• Minimum 2 years of experience in social services or a related field
• High school diploma or GED certification
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and trauma theory
• CPR and First Aid Certification
