Pacific Rail Services is currently seeking a skilled Outside Gate Clerk to join our team at the Norfolk Southern Rutherford Railroad in Harrisburg, PA.
Job SummaryThis entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a recession-proof industry with consistent year-round work. As an Outside Gate Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper checking of containers, trailers, and chassis in and out of the railroad facility.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize a handheld device for inspecting unit letters and numbers
- Assess units for damage and complete necessary paperwork
- Work in all weather conditions while inspecting equipment
The position requires extended periods of standing and working in outdoor environments. However, when there are no trucks to process, a temperature-controlled office is available.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive hourly rate of $15.50 with yearly pay increases, totaling approximately $36,170 in the first year. Additionally, we provide:
