About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Safety and Security Officer to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our safety and security team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrols and Security: Conduct regular patrols of the campus, monitor CCTV cameras, and manage access control systems to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls, including medical emergencies, personnel safety incidents, theft, and fires, and contact emergency services as needed.
  • Incident Reporting: Accurately document and report all incidents to the Manager and/or Supervisor of Campus Safety & Security.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, law enforcement, and other emergency management officials.
  • Safety Best Practices: Follow safety best practices and work to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Shift Coverage: Assist in covering shifts due to illnesses, vacations, holidays, etc.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Manager and/or Supervisor of Campus Safety & Security, Director of Campus Operations, and Dean as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: One (1) - Three (3) years of experience in security, military, and/or law enforcement
  • Skills: Proficient written and oral communication skills, proficient organizational and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, local and state agencies, and visitors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Three (3)+ years of experience in security, military, and/or law enforcement
