Position Overview:

STGi is actively seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician to deliver essential services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The primary responsibility of the Physician is to offer comprehensive outpatient medical services to enrolled patients of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), adhering to the guidelines of the Veteran Affairs Primary Care Program. Additionally, the Physician will oversee the daily operations of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).


Key Responsibilities:


1. Deliver medical care focused on primary and preventive health to address the physical, mental, and emotional needs of patients, operating within a defined scope of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and personal expertise.

2. Serve as the initial point of contact within the Veteran's Administration healthcare system.

3. Facilitate the orientation of clinical staff, including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

4. Provide leadership and guidance to CBOC clinicians.

5. Assess the effectiveness of current clinical practices and recommend enhancements.

6. Collaborate with the STGi Program Manager to implement strategic initiatives for Quality Performance Improvement Team (QPIT).

7. Engage in the evaluation and enhancement of clinical outcomes within assigned responsibilities.

8. Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain compliance and ensure patient safety.

9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, care management, risk management, peer review, utilization review, and health enhancement activities.

10. Be prepared to establish a collaborative practice agreement with clinic APRN and/or PA.


11. Manage medical care, conduct basic mental health screenings, adjust medications, and address issues related to mild depression, anxiety, and grief, ensuring continuity of care with the VAMC for patients enrolled in the VA Primary Care Program.


12. Promote wellness, prevention, and early detection of health issues.


13. Foster continuity and quality of care through ongoing relationships with veteran enrollees.


14. Maintain universal precautions and infection control protocols.


15. Develop and sustain ongoing relationships with veterans, assisting in referrals for services and/or admissions to the VAMC as clinically appropriate.


16. Determine necessary referrals based on patient examinations and needs.


17. Ensure a smooth and timely patient flow in accordance with VA access standards and triage protocols.


18. Oversee the delivery of care to patients by the CBOC.


19. Administer medications following facility protocols.


20. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and assist during respiratory and cardiac emergencies.


21. Document all relevant patient information in the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) medical records to demonstrate quality care delivery and promote continuity of care.


22. Keep the VISTA clinic reminder tracking system updated for each enrolled patient.


23. Assess the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments based on VA access standards and patient medical necessity.


24. Keep patients informed about their care plans, including lab and diagnostic test results as necessary.


25. Provide educational materials and resources to patients and their families for informational purposes.


26. Participate in the ongoing Performance Improvement Program in collaboration with subcontractors and the VAMC.


27. Assist in ensuring all required reports are completed accurately and thoroughly.


28. Aid in managing and coordinating the clinic's daily activities alongside the Registered Nurse (RN)/CBOC Manager, in line with the VA Program's philosophy.


29. Comply with all federal, state, local, Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Veteran Affairs, and subcontractor safety and operational regulations, directives, and standards.


30. Ensure all patient information on encounter forms is complete and accurate.


31. Maintain confidentiality of all information, supporting patient privacy, rights, and safety.


32. Act as a liaison for the VAMC.


33. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:


1. Hold an active, full, and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.


2. Board-certified by the ABMS in Internal Medicine and/or Family Practice, or board eligible within four (4) years of residency completion in either specialty.


3. Current and unrestricted DEA registration.


4. Experience with safe practices regarding opioid medications for chronic pain management.


5. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) from an accredited organization.


6. Knowledge of professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques in accordance with community and VA standards of practice.


7. Familiarity with pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, including their effects, side effects, complications, and usage considerations.


8. Understanding of customer service techniques related to age-specific populations.


9. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills in English, along with proper telephone etiquette.


10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Software and electronic medical records systems.


11. Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in managing challenging customer situations.


12. Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.


Working Conditions:


Moderate physical activity is required, including handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods.


Work is typically performed in an office environment.


Responding to medical emergencies within the clinic may require quick movement.


Compensation:

$120/hr
