Job Summary:

Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Green Health and Wellness Center is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures using standard and sophisticated instrumentation and equipment.
  • Receive and process various biological specimens in accordance with established procedures.
  • Evaluate validity of test results using quality control standards, instrumentation function checks, and/or department policies and procedures.
  • Initiate appropriate corrective action to alleviate any deficiencies of quality assurance standards or established specified limits.
  • Consistently coordinate all work with co-workers to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance measures, troubleshooting and calibration procedures on department's equipment and instruments.
  • Provide general training to medical technology students and others under training and orientation.
  • Always shows an awareness of proper safety procedures.
  • Assume personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
  • Provide instruction and explanation to patients and/or family members when performing point-of-care testing procedures.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology.
  • National certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Generalist experience in chemistry and hematology is preferred.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
