Position Overview
As a Tuberculosis Case Management Nurse, you will operate under the guidance of the RN TB Clinic Supervisor and the TB Physician, serving as a vital component of the tuberculosis clinic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and monitor all aspects of TB Case Nursing Management, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols and conducting thorough contact investigations.
  • Provide support in the orientation and training of new nursing staff within the TB program.
  • Track and evaluate TB cases for Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) compliance, manage toxicity issues, and conduct follow-ups in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Engage in monitoring tuberculosis-related activities within correctional facilities and other special populations.
  • Assist in the development and collection of necessary data for the DSHS special population program.
  • Collaborate with special population TB LVNs to ensure timely completion of reports.
  • Identify program needs and contribute to the planning and implementation of effective strategies for TB management.
  • Interpret and apply public health laws and regulations relevant to tuberculosis control.
  • Participate in staff orientation and performance evaluations aligned with TB program objectives.
  • Engage in TB quality assurance activities.
  • Support infection control monitoring within the Pulmonary clinic.
  • Adhere to laboratory protocols for specimen collection and report any abnormal findings to the TB physician, facilitating appropriate referrals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on the evolving needs of the department.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is preferred, or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school.
  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience, with specific expertise in tuberculosis treatment and monitoring.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Texas or a state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Possession of a valid Texas driver's license and eligibility for coverage under the County's insurance policy.

Skills and Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and public health principles.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive patient care and maintain accurate health records.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate nursing activities and evaluate public health service delivery.
  • Capacity to interpret policies, recognize treatment patterns, and supervise the work of others.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages.
