Key Responsibilities
  • Care for animals in the shelter, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring behavior and health
  • Maintain the shelter, including cleaning and laundry
  • Assist customers with adoptions and redeeming lost animals
  • Perform euthanasia of animals as needed
  • Clean and disinfect the shelter areas, as directed
  • Feed animals and ensure water is available
  • Monitor quality and quantity of food and inform supervisor of any problems
  • Help with vaccinations and worming of animals
  • Monitor condition of animals and inform supervisor of any injuries or illnesses
  • Keep quarantined animals in designated areas and prevent public access
Requirements
  • Completion of high school/GED and six months experience
  • Knowledge of animal handling techniques
  • Ability to handle emotional and aggressive situations
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends, and during emergency response operations
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Inoculation against rabies prior to completion of probationary period
