Job Summary:

The Ambulatory Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of patient care at Rush University Medical Center. As a member of the Psych Substance Use team, this individual will assist Registered Nurses in providing high-quality care to patients. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to problem solve and work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Registered Nurses in the delivery of patient care, including maintaining a safe patient environment and prioritizing duties based on patient needs.
  • Participates in the implementation of individualized plans of care, accurately obtaining patient data and documenting all care in the patient care record.
  • Performs routine procedures, treatments, and specimen collections, demonstrating aseptic technique when necessary.
  • Transports patients and items as needed, obtaining blood products, supplies, and equipment as required.

Requirements:

  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through the State of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certificate.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Successful completion of the institutional screening examination.

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.
  • Lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and supporting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300lbs.
