The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating standard radiographic equipment, fluoroscopy, portable x-ray machines, and imaging devices used in surgical settings. This role involves providing patient care services pertinent to imaging procedures, including initiating IV access and administering contrast agents. Interaction with radiologists and referring physicians is a key aspect of this position. The Medical Imaging Specialist executes job responsibilities independently while adhering to established departmental and hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers contrast media via oral, rectal, or intravenous routes as necessary.
  • Screens patients and escorts personnel for access to the magnet room.
  • Prepares patients by ensuring all necessary documentation and medications are in order prior to procedures.
  • Processes images and assesses them for quality and completeness.
  • Provides care tailored to age-specific needs with a developmental perspective.
  • Conducts tracers and observes clinical practices for assessment purposes.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • Completion of a two-year accredited radiography program (preferably JCERT accredited)
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or eligibility for certification with a commitment to obtain it during the probationary employment period
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
