Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Pilgrim's. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify vehicle condition and worn/damaged parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance schedules, component upgrades, and corrosion control.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Verify vehicle performance through test drives and adjustments.
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance and records by cleaning, washing, and painting, and annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications.
Requirements
  • Must have own tools.
  • Prior Diesel Mechanic experience required.
  • CDL required or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Good mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must take and pass a technical skills test to be placed.
